Alabama notaries are not required to obtain notary training before obtaining a notary commission, although they are strongly urged to do so - the notary needs instruction on proper procedures.  And although notary education is required now in Florida, many notaries have practiced for years without the benefits and protection that notary training offers. We encourage these notaries to obtain training to minimize liability for the notary and the notary's employer.
